AYSO Region 733 coaches are volunteers who play a critical role in creating a safe, positive, and fun soccer experience for our players. The resources below are designed to support coaches at every level — from first-time volunteers to experienced leaders.
Coach Code of Conduct
All coaches are expected to uphold AYSO’s Core Philosophies and model positive behavior at all times. See Coach Code of Conduct below.
Volunteer Requirements & Safety
All AYSO Region 733 coaches must complete the following requirements before participating:

Background Check
Safe Haven Certification
Age-appropriate Coach Training
Concussion Awareness Training
Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training
Safe Sport Certification
These requirements help ensure the safety of all players and volunteers.

New coaches are encouraged to take advantage of these resources — no prior soccer experience is required.
Practice Planning & Player Development
Helpful tools for running fun, effective practices:
Age-appropriate practice plans
Small-sided games and activities
Skill-based drills that promote confidence and teamwork
Emphasis on learning through play
Coaches are encouraged to focus on effort, improvement, and enjoyment, not just game results.
Game Day Expectations
To ensure a positive match experience:
Coaches should arrive prepared and on time
Reinforce respect for referees (many are youth volunteers)
Provide positive instruction — avoid excessive sideline coaching
Ensure equal playing time and sportsmanlike behavior
Winning is secondary to development, safety, and fun.
Working With Parents
Clear communication with parents helps create a supportive team environment.
Coaches should:
Set expectations early in the season
Encourage positive sideline behavior
Direct concerns through appropriate AYSO channels
Refer parents to the Parent Code of Conduct when needed
Reporting Concerns or Incidents
Any concerns related to safety, behavior, or code of conduct violations should not be handled on the field.
